Terms of use

SmuggleCheck is a free tool provided as is, without warranty of any kind. Findings are automated checks of the text you submit. A "clean" verdict does not guarantee that text is safe to give to an AI model, and a finding does not prove malicious intent: prompt injection can also be written in plain, visible words, which SmuggleCheck does not judge.

Fair use: anonymous use is rate-limited (per minute per IP and a shared daily pool); free API keys have a monthly quota of about 500 checks. Keys are personal, may be revoked for abuse, and expire if unused for about 13 months. There is no paid tier. Don't attempt to bypass limits or overload the service. Access may be limited or withdrawn at any time.

Useful for agents and assistants that read untrusted text (web pages, emails, documents, tool output), for example Muse, Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor. SmuggleCheck is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Meta, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Mistral AI, DeepSeek, Alibaba (Qwen), the Unicode Consortium or any other AI or model vendor. Model and token names are used only to describe formats.
